I Want to be Pretty
I just want to be pretty
Wear pink and pearls
And smell like lavender
Or maybe roses
And have bows and ribbons and things
That make other people think
I'm pretty
For maybe a little while...
I want precious, little somethings
And perfect, small differences
Making me stand out
Just enough to be noticed...
I want to sing soft lullabies
In darling, fine tunes
And whisper and giggle
And live
Because maybe
Well just maybe...
If I did all these things
You would notice me too
And I could whisper softly with you
And dress up on Sundays
Because I might see you then
And feel cute
And breathless
And blown away
And cherished
And tiny
And smart
For once
I just want to be pretty
For you
