Under the Willow
Under the Willow
I sit drenched in shadows,
feeling the prick of grass
on my bare legs.
The branches hanging so low
as to shield me from the world.
The world I wish so,
so desperately to escape.
Every thought runs
through my scattered mind.
From the poor life I’ve lived
to the lacking future sure to come.
Of the hours I’ve cried
and of the reasons why.
Of those I’ve left behind
in my vacancy called life.
I’m well aware that beneath me
lies the remains of my companion.
However, it is thee
that I wish to join.
Under the Willow
I sit drenched in shadows,
feeling the prick of grass
on my bare legs.
The branches hanging so low
as to shield me from the world.
The world I wish so,
so desperately to escape.
Under the Willow
is a sacred place to me.
Where I allow myself to wander
into the darkness of my mind,
which is often under lock and key.
