Once Upon a Cross
Beaten, bruised, down in the dirt.
A crown of thorns upon your head.
How innocent you were,
Yet you were the one being wounded.
You carried Your own sentence,
Toward Your untimely death.
You knew what was happening,
Yet you continued onward.
Death upon a cross,
You were so innocent, so flawlessly guilty.
We were the sinners, the criminals,
Yet you still chose to die for our sins.
A drop of blood, a son's tears,
A sign of relentless love.
Forever, our king, Jesus Christ,
God's only son.
