Where I'm from
When people ask me where I'm from I say
Iam from books
from clorax bleach and tide detergent
Iam from black brick buildings
and walls that been tag by different gangs
Iam from the rose bush
the old oak tree
whoes long gone limbs I remeber
as if they were my own
I'm from brown eyes and dark skin
from family and friends
I'm from bitting my nails and playing piano
and from reading untill my eyes shut
I'm from if it's not your's don't touch it
and don't make me tell mommy
and never would have made it by marvin sapp
I'm from taking pictures on easter sundays
I'm from southwest philadelphia and
bake macoroni and sweet potateo pies
from my mom's birthdays
how me and my sisters cooked her breakfast
snap shots and good memories under my
floor boards in my room
That's where I'm from
