Acoustic
I sing myself to sleep now
Instead of a tape
or a CD
or an Ipod
It is me that sings myself to sleep
With my tired hands
And calloused fingers
Bearing down on a six string
Old enough to be my twin
And together we make music
My guitar and I
Me with my out of tune
Reliably flat voice
Him with the metal twang of strings
That have needed replacement
Far longer than I can remember
And I sleep better
For no reason other than the fact
That I
Had accomplished enough
To sing myself to sleep
And play songs that I know
Myself
