Dandelions and Dinosaurs
There she goes
with her snakes,
her dinosaurs,
and her dandelions.
Picking only the best
in the sweet spring air.
Open to new things,
dragging along the bones.
Pink skirts
tangle themselves
to her dancing legs
because they love her
more than the wind.
She's flying fast
with her toys
to places unknown to us.
Chalk dusts her hands
among the imagination.
Wayward curls of hair halo
her small face.
This little imp
of wonder and knowledge
brings joy to all who see,
but she has a special
place in my heart
where snakes
and dinosaurs
and dandelions
are more precious
than gold.
