Too Long a Loss of Freedom
It has been too long
since I have danced under the moon,
spinning in a throng.
Since I have raised my voice
to the skies, so high, so high
it has been too long,
since I had a choice.
I have been caged, locked away,
alone in an empty place.
My life has begun to fray.
Someone help me!
Someone save me!
Someone hold me and heart me,
and ignore my crazy.
It has been too long, too long
since I have drawn my heart
onto a sheet of paper,
and now I part,
with you, my reader, and hope,
You never lose your freedom,
your spark, your light that is bright, even in the dark.
