Drunk Driving
Dear daughter,
I combed your hair, I tucked you in.
I gave you all I could for your life to begin.
You're as smart as they come, I knew you'd go far.
You always gave me reason to raise the bar.
I trust your judgement because I know
You're aware of what's right, far in life I thought you'd go.
Why did you drink? Please let me know.
I wouldve picked you up, had you only said so.
It's a parents worst nightmare, you have to believe,
When your daughter is drunk and takes the keys.
One year later and here we are,
I see you every night as a shooting star.
Love mom.
Dear mother,
I'm sorry I broke your heart, I wasn't thinking clearly as I turned the engine to start.
Red seemed green, I hit the gas.
My eyes haven't deceived me, the alcohol has.
All of a sudden my world caved in, someone save me, make my breathing begin!
It seems like a dream that I am here, I know it was your biggest fear.
This is your lesson to you from me,
The lesson being, don't take the keys.
Love,
Your daughter
