A New Beginning
All deaths are just beginnings,
inevitable moments that change everything.
Some deaths give a warning,
While others sneak up on you.
Brownie’s death came before I expected,
on a cold fall morning.
Now as I sit watching his corn patch grave,
memories surface in my mind reminding me of all the good things he brought me.
Walking ahead making sure I am safe,
rolling over in poison ivy then trotting up to me with a big smile.
As these memories roll past,
I feel as if he is still standing guard.
Then, I feel less sadness,
knowing he will forever be with me in my heart.
