Seaward On
Crashing waves rock my ship from side to side,
Lighting and thunder, yet I cannot hide,
For I captain this ship, no matter what weather may be,
I steer this wooden beauty to the ends of the sea,
Storm calms down now, clear skies in its end,
Made tough did the weather for me to defend-
This glorious ship that holds dearest to me,
I steer this wooden beauty to the ends of the sea,
This ship gives me shelter where I do confide,
But when my ship needs me I never will hide,
It’s been a long time now, and older I seem,
But I will still steer this ship to the end of the sea,
A huge storm approaches, yet sea’s end is in sight,
If I could bare through it, well then I just might-
Be able to dock this one wooden, lovely being,
That I have all nearly steered to the end of the sea,
A rogue wave approaching, don’t know what will come,
First time I’ve ever thought my journey undone,
As the wave approaches, and death shows clearly unto me,
I realize that this boat has really steered me.
