My Heart
It takes a beating
Standing strong
Blow for blow
Looking like Rocky Balboa
After it gets in the ring with you
But you still think it’s a joke
But no matter how hard you bash and bruise it, its still
My heart
It gets bloody
Flying through the battlefield
Shouting its war cry
Trying to win against your formidable tactics
It shall raise the colors
Showing its undying will
To win you over.
It shall make you see
What I have done for you
Instead of ignoring it kneeling
At your feet
Pleading for you to understand
That I love you
With all
My heart
But you still treat it like a joke
Leaving it to cry and choke
On the lies you’ve fed it
Polluted by the smoke
Of burnt dreams
And shriveling up
Unrecognizable as
My heart.
