They Play the Game
They play the game
Where they pretend to be who they are not
When they hide the sinful truth
Behind smiling facades
They play the game
Where they stab each other with knife-like words
Saying it was all in jest
Leaving wounded emotions and broken hearts
They play the game
Where they chant “To each, his own!”
Shamelessly shoving others down
To raise themselves higher
They play the game
Russian roulette for the sake of fun
Hoping to escape unscathed
Returning empty handed
They play the game
Chasing after money, power, respect
Gaining the whole world
But losing their souls
Why do they play the game?
What is the prize?
Why do they exalt themselves?
They think they are God
But when I feel
Like I can bear it no longer
I am reminded of a Savior
Christ
He came for all those
Oppressed sinners
Those who play the game
Why?
Jesus loved them first
He came and died
So he can be with them forever
Eternity
I am indebted to him
I will sing his praises
Because
I played the game
