You Used To
You used to be amazing, boy
You used to really shine.
I used to dream about the day
That we could kiss and say “you’re mine.”
But you’ve changed over time
To a monster I don’t know-
Clawing at me to get to their hearts,
My blood dimming your glow.
You were peaceful in my eyes,
A leader of a thousand doves-
I’ve watched you alter, watched you morph,
Now witness every pitiless shove.
I won’t ask for a change,
But secretly pray that you do,
For I’ll never consider myself blessed,
Until I have the old you.
