High School
We as high schoolers
Live for
Fight for
The pick a bones
Cell phones
Trumpets and
Trombones
So many I love yous
And I swear, I’m telling the truths
And all about yous
And I get so confused
And down
Down
Down
Down
Down
Down we fall
We solemnly stalk these halls
Known as Saginaw
With our shoulders hung low
And our heads far below
Bodies hunched
Pants all bunched
And we are
So
Alone
Or so we think
‘Cause in a blink
When we’re on the brink
Of despair, depression
Our situation freshens
And friends emerge
And lives unfold
And we meet beauty
Unbetold
And we feel strong
And joyful
And bold
And life is sweet
So theatre
Music
Dance
Art
Whatever you do
Whoever you are
Sports
Shorts
And all other sorts
Of things
You can do
Your dreams
They can come true
So even though
Life is filled
With fish gills
And paint spills
And turpentine
Just leave it
It’s fine
There’ll be nobody
Messing with my mind
Instead I will be
What I and only those close can see
Unthinkably, undeniably, unchangeably
ME
Wild and free
Traipsing with insanity
And that is the key
To survival
To staying cool
Through this crazy thing
Known as
High School
