The day it snowed
The day it snowed
Was a really good day
For the most part
All the kids on the bus talked about sledding
Or building a snowman
And I just smiled
Like there were people who wanted to build a snowman and sled with me, too.
Then, the kids got off the bus, and excitedly ran home
And then I got off
Alone at the last stop
I went inside and put on some bright red mittens
And a scarf
Like there were people who wanted to build a snowman and sled with me, too.
I walked to the basketball courts, covered in untouched snow.
And the dogs ran around me in circles and ate it.
And I just lay down, and stayed there for a while and let the snowflakes gather on my closed eyelids and hang off of my eyelashes. And when I opened them, I saw snowflakes spiraling towards me through the grey sky. It was really pretty, and I wanted to just stay there for the rest of my life.
Then I made snow angels
And went back inside to warm up
Because I knew that there was no one who wanted to build a snowman or sled with me.
