I, Too
I, too, am the future of America.
I am from every detail I have seen,
Every experience I have been through,
An impression of the past.
Though like others,
Am expected to be an imprint of the future.
Tomorrow,
My generation will be the heroes,
Innovators,
Creators.
Distinguishing which memories
To use as wisdom,
And which to fuel the determination
For change.
Now,
Reprimands are expected,
Mistakes welcomed
Everything taken in as experience,
Practice,
Preparation.
Tomorrow,
We will be America.
Pushed into the limelight
For new ideas;
A new America.
No longer taught
But becoming the teachers.
I, too, am the future.
