At Death's Door
I have seen the knife,
That marred his face;
I have witnessed his life,
And fall from grace.
I have wielded the blade,
With malicious intent;
I have felt the grave,
And made a silent covenant.
I have seen the bars,
From the other side;
I have hidden my face,
While you have cried.
This world feels different,
Not quite so real,
And now that it's slipping,
I'm unsure how to feel.
I know my time,
Is almost up,
And that I must partake,
In that last offered cup.
My end is nigh;
I feel Death here,
And I do realize,
That my end is crystal clear.
I am knocking on Death's door;
It's just a matter of time,
For I know no more,
Than the consequences of my crime.
