Where You Went
The angels dance in warming sunlight,
Floating slowly through the silent air.
They settle upon your vacant bed and desk,
Wondering why you’re not there.
The furnace groans its usual growl,
Blows heat through every vent.
Except for yours. He won’t waste heat,
But still wonders where you went.
A tiny spider spins his home,
Waiting for his prey as days drag on,
But the stillness stirs his mind, as well,
And he wonders where you’ve gone.
