My Sad Defeat
His lips were my passion,
His heart was my gold,
His body was stable, for me to hold,
His tears were my diamonds,
His pain was my jewel,
And our love has dried to an empty pool,
Renewal quenched my aching thirst,
The new kisses on my lips were worse,
Never before, something so dead,
Remorse sucked my skin, darkened with dread,
Was once an art, now a lethal weapon,
I was played for the your affection,
Blasted your soul as you played my mind,
Said our love was “one of a kind”,
You told me “he didn’t love you, he wouldn’t dare.”
Lied and pretended you deeply cared.
Now you were a fool, not I, nor he,
Luckily he'll always hold the key.
