Who am I?
Everybody always asks me where I’m from,
It is not even a question, it is a norm.
Why do I have to choose where I’m from?
I’m from the east,
I’m from the west,
I’m a fusion where east meets west.
I’m from the river valley of Arkansas to the tip of Mt. Magazine
I’m from a distant land where the Ganga runs deep
I’m American as American pie.
With a strong ancient heritage tie.
From the rhythm of Bollywood,
To the beats of Hollywood.
I like wearing tees and jeans,
But my wedding Shari has to be green.
I love pizza, mac and cheese,
Also love pita’s fried in ghee.
From two different worlds,
That complements each other like Yin and Yang.
Be kind, faithful, proud and nice.
Both my cultures teach me twice.
Remember who you are,
And you will shine like a star,
Cause I’m the only me in this world.
