my world now
february 19th 2088-
class lessons go on everyday but grammar has become insignificant
i like reading the books from before the year 2070
they make more sense with the capitalization and punctuation marks
the world around me today is nothing like what ive read about in the past
its become too mechanical too technological
cars that drive you everywhere while you sit back and watch the raw rotten earth pass by out your window
rooms that change their walls adjusting their scenery at the sound of a command
movies have become more interesting though
at the push of a button you are transferred into the film witnessing the emotions and actions firsthand
its not deniable
things have changed
and maybe not so much for the better
walking down the beach isnt as gentle and serene as my grandmother describes it to be
the ocean breeze is stale and thick from pollution
not like the calming peaceful wind that she speaks of
but she does speak fondly of earth before it was destroyed
she talks hopelessly and wistfully like she misses the place though i cant make sense of why
sometimes i catch her looking at old pictures
her eyes become teary at the sight of the breathtakingly beautiful nature photos
i thought they were fake, or colored sketches
they seemed too alive and pretty to be from this planet
but today she told me she took those pictures
i couldnt believe that gorgeous scenery had been on the other side of the camera lens
that it had been in front of her very eyes before
maybe i understand why she misses that earth so much
maybe i understand why she wishes to be there instead
maybe its because its nothing like my world is now
