Chirp
We knew we were
Universe's plaything:
A colorful, spinning ball
Rolling through untold time and space
Our futures yet uncertain.
And we feared.
We molded all
Reshaping the edge of a vast, groaning, wheel,
Pinching corners, drawing lines,
Creating an unnatural network
Of sterile
Squares.
We refused to step into graceful, winding River
Because our gaze could not reach
around the bend.
We pulled squares in around us
As a nest
Huddled for an eternity, hiding from
Sky’s clouded dome,
Sun’s burning orb, and
Moon's eerie crescent grin.
That's why, Birds content in
Little, twiggy
Circles
Chirp:
They're Laughing.
