A Reason
I just want a reason
One to rid me of my chain
So I can be freed from tears
In the land of everlasting rain
I just need to hear from you
The words I’ve waited for
I already know the answer
I know it will hurt me more
But despite the pain I’ll feel
Despite the tears I’ll shed
I still want you to say it
Because my heart’s already dead
Don’t be afraid to hurt me
Or see me really cry
I just need to know the truth
So I can finally say goodbye
Don’t you want me to move on?
Don’t you want me to forget?
Don’t you want to have a happy life?
And have no more regret?
I try so hard every day
To stand up tall and smile
And when I see you, I look happy
But inside, I’m dying all the while
I’ve been hurting for some time
My heart throbbing with dull aches
So just tell me that one reason
Please, for goodness sakes
I just want a reason
One to rid me of my chain
So I can be freed from tears
In the land of everlasting rain
