Reflecting Glass
The glass reflecting your eyes was your enemy
You felt out of place in your family’s arms
The only thoughts that made you smile were of fantasies
That you clung to because you knew they were incapable of harm
You gathered all of your strength to shove away the spotlight
And cried in the shadows when your hands bled from the task
You were the one who sacrificed yourself to stop a fight
Because it pained you to see pain behind your falsely joyful mask
You dreamed of love at first sight
And a strong hand to hold and a soft shoulder to sleep on
But it wasn’t until you saw your own light
That your smile was true and your tears forever gone
For you then looked upon that glass of reflection
And saw a love erupt from inside
Where one know’s of her miraculous, divine perfection
And finds love wherever she goes, and refuses to hide
For the love she longed for
Must first be found within
And in time, others will follow your
Path of unconditional love
that will always be
and has forever been
