Winter
Frozen fingers that seize your soul
and I do feel
the pierce of ice in my lungs.
I am hungry
for what lives no more.
Can you smell
what bakes beneath this earth?
Seasons have changed.
You could hear the echo in the sky
under the hawk's call
and between my ears
is the ringing of winter come again.
