Grandma's House at Dawn
At Grandma’s house at dawn.
I feel warm and delighted to be here.
As the smells and the decorations change, the house itself stays the same.
The smell of french toast, the sound of butter sizzling in the pan, and the taste of the sweet maple syrup.
In animal form, a puppy.
In person form, a loving grandparent.
In song form, the I Love You song off of Barney.
The opposite being empty.
Grandma’s house not holding love, warmth, and food.
Being alone, watching everything just stand still.
