Colors of Paradise
Blue is the color of the transparent ocean
Rising and falling from the damp shore’s sand
Back and forth, a steady pattern.
Gold is the color of the sparkling sand
That burns my bare feet as they hop
From one to the other, begging for cool water.
Brown is the color of the tall trunks
Supporting the waving palm branches
That sway in the hot, muggy breeze.
Green is the color of the tropical palm branches
That shade me from the sun’s bright rays
And protect my skin from burning even more.
Red is the color of my sunburned skin
That is sensitive to the touch
And thirsts for more soothing aloe.
Orange is the color of the blazing sunrise
That wakes the creatures of the island
And marks the start of a new day in paradise for me.
