Look away from my past,
For mistakes litter that land which is vast,
Yearning for change,
That I will find it to be foreign and strange,
I want to see the adventures that await me,
I am eager to set my creativity free,
This time around I won’t be the same,
This time around I won’t be holding my head down in shame,
It could not have come slower,
I was beginning to fear for I couldn’t bow my head any lower,
What is done is done,
And maybe I will finally learn from the past hun,
But don’t get too happy,
I don’t like when things get too sappy,
This year will be contrasting to my last,
Since I will try my best to keep the past in a cast.

The author's comments:
Last year I kind of went through a shameful situation of getting kicked out of my school in a tight knit school community. It was pretty stupid what I did, and I felt overwhelmed. But I told myself that I can't let things get to me all the time, and I have to hold my head higher
