Who I Am
I am red curls
And blue eyes,
To me
But I’m curious:
What am I
To you?
Because I hear
The rumors and
The whispers and
The taunts and
Ii see
The way you look
At me
When I walk by
I just want you
To like me
The girl
With red curls
And blue eyes.
I am scarred
Yet I am strong
Strong enough to
Pretend I don’t care
About what happens
Now and then.
But not strong enough
To truly not care
Because I remember
When it was all too much;
These scars on my wrists
Won’t let me forget
To stay strong.
I am me
and I am happy.
