The Hardest Part
i thought i had lost you
but then you were there
i was confused
but i almost didn't care
you told me not to worry
everything was fine
we could live forever
by each others sides.
i accepted it
and took you outstretched hand
together we walked toward the sea
our feet sinking in the sand
but then came the storm
darkness swallowing us whole
you let go of my hand
i felt the rip in my soul
the wind pushed me away
from your standing form
you didn't call for me
you looked at me with scorn
told me i was weak
told me to fight
i tried to
but then i was pushed into the light
i blinked the sand form my eyes
only to find tears
i realized i was all alone
and the light was sun reflecting on mirror
i understood what had happened
i begged myself to go back to sleep
so i could see you
and you would be with me
because you see,
i was dreaming with a broken heart,
and honestly,
waking up was the hardest part.
