Murder at the Matinee
The theatre is full of audience members;
Dressed with class, in black and white.
A man in a mask strolls onto the stage
Bathing in the glare of the spotlight
The man in the mask begins to roar
Like a lion in the cage
He says “My game is vaudeville
And all the worlds a stage”
Something’s wrong at the theatre
The cast’s being devoured by the play
Would someone please call the manager?
There’s been a murder at the matinee.
The audience is frantic
They’re running up and down the aisles.
The ushers look at the man nervously
But his frozen mask just smiles.
