I Point Them To The Stars
I point them to the stars,
they tell me it’s a dream,
they cram my thoughts in jars,
they create this evil scheme
I try to show them reason,
but they don’t really care,
they call me out for treason,
they snicker and they stare
I point them to the stars,
they say it’s too far away
they put me behind bars,
they say I’m here to stay
I sit here in the cold,
tied up in this net,
I try to be bold,
I’m just this plain brunette.
I point them to the stars,
they dismiss my every word,
they say I’ll never fly to mars,
they say I’m not a bird
I draw my varying thoughts,
they twist and turn and flip,
I try to connect the dots,
they start to form a ship
I point them to the stars,
they hand me off to space,
they become my memoirs,
they’re gone without a trace.
