Not Another Minute
The story began like it normally would
Plentiful potential, to be understood
But how quickly it faded into something unknown
Too easily accepted, we made it our own
We didn’t understand, what we needed to learn
But now I see the trust, we needed to earn
Each day is a gift, we must not waste
And life is for living, never a race
I understand now, what I didn’t before
Searching for the key, to cease the war
And though it seems like so long ago
Looking back, you wouldn’t know
The memories so vivid, the problem so clear
Blaming each other, while we needed a mirror
Though things have changed, and you may not care
I’ve made a decision; I’d like to share...
I will choose to be happy, and smile everyday
I will be serious or silly, and laugh either way
I will pay more attention, to the things that matter
And do my best to ignore, the sinful ever-lasting clatter
I will be honest, and I will be true
But I will spend not another minute, waiting for you
