"For you, a thousand times over."

Darling, when the fools come out to play,
he'll be named, “Fool of the Day”
Foolish he was, with his love of the sea.
Who knew the sea
would love the likes of he?

Simple fool, smiling lovingly...
Did he not know better than,
to jump into the sea?

Crashing waves and neverlasting words.
With immature detachment, harassing the anchoring sand.
He was a fool
to ignore the storm,
and try to fall in.

There were moments where affection could not be helped,
and the sea broke his fall.
Yet in retrospect,
maybe the sea shouldn't have cared at all.

Cruelty could save the lot,
but what of those unclaimed feelings lost?
In the spread of space and time,
the unsaid and undone loves to cry.

Reality: unrequited love is always for naught.
The sea and the fool were in the same boat,
and the whole universe knows,
that never ends well.

That sad day,
the sorry sky wished to cry.
Tasting the mourning waters,
the sea had asked, “Why?”

With a wave of sympathy,
and winds of sorrow;
in the midst of his confusion,
the sea threw the boy,
into the arms of tomorrow.

Who knew how he cried, screamed and yearned?
Who knew how much the sea wished for his return?

Throwing themselves together
they knew it would result in a “crash”.
What a foolish boy.
What a wretched sea...
How did they ever imagine their love could be?

Reality: unloved lovers feel the most pain.
Yet the whole universe knows,
most love is in vain.
