The Melting
Covered in thick, hot sweat;
She lay melted on the loveseat.
Spring dashed by with barely a hello
and sure enough the heat had settled in.
A silence so stark fell upon the porch,
that even the birds dare not disturb it.
Dampened by sweat, she sat up and looked around.
Squirrels scampered by, bikers raced past and leaves floated to the ground.
The pain in the back of her head had grown worse over the past few weeks,
and this heat was sure to worsen it.
Covered in thick, hot sweat,
she melted back into the loveseat to give her mind a rest.
School had been getting harder,
and the pressure to preform was stronger than ever.
A stark silence fell over her mind for a moment,
and she sat up to look around.
She had picked up some new habits, temptation was looming near, and she had never felt more alone.
Covered in thick, hot sweat;
she melted back into the loveseat and decided to stay that way for a while.
