For Caleb
I didn’t really know you
I didn’t really try
Yet the anonymity
Didn’t stop
The sting of a stolen goodbye
They say to live each day
Just like it’s your last.
But that saying means nothing
When death comes
So fast.
Your friends
Have told me stories
You seemed like a really
Great guy
I wish I could have known you
In person,
Instead of as a star in the sky
I hope you’re happier there
I hope there’s never any pain
I hope it’s full of
Sunshine,
Flowers,
Light,
And not
Cold, or clouds, or rain
I hope you know
You’ll be remembered
By all you left behind
And even by me
Who barely knew you
But knew that you
Were kind
It’s been a few months now
But I still won’t forget
That you were here
And you were alive
And you won’t be forgotten yet.
