Impressions
When I saw you for the first time,
I saw the crookedness to your smile
and the scars
in your eyes
I saw the sort of beauty
in having too many freckles
and a laugh bigger than you
and marks and scars and spots
lining the way you spoke.
I saw something there,
in this face that always seemed a little thoughtful
and the mouth that twisted like it wanted to say a million things
but didn't know how,
And the way your hips
curved outward
like you couldn't wait
to escape from yourself.
