The Rising Storm

The trees are moaning and sighing,
restless with the energy of the wind.
Dark clouds creep across the sky,
watching with somber, expectant faces
as they prepare to strangle the last remaining drops of daylight.
The air is heavy and guarded,
anxious for the coming riot.
The humidity is pulsing, swaying.
All of the elements gain power until, at last,
the storm is ready to emerge.
