The waves crashed angrily upon the shore,
Under the watchful eye of their overlord, the Moon,
They pressed forward, gaining land inch by inch, foot by foot,
The shore fell beneath their onslaught, unable to withstand the waves,
The shore fought back but to no avail. The night belonged to the vengeful tide,
Moon urged them on, a maniacal general bent on winning this war with the land,
This raucous fighting had continued unabated till the wee hours of the morning,
But it was in the bright morning that the land gained an invaluable ally,
The waves fell back like wounded dogs, fighting but receding,
Drifting, unwilling to yield their gains, but forced to.
At last! Was it time for the shore to claim victory?
With the mighty Sun as its watchful protector,
The shore seemed to have won the day,
But the waves were determined, very much so
By nightfall, they would storm the beaches once more,
They would show the land once and for all, who was the true victor.
The struggle between these two sworn enemies is eternal, without end in sight,
Many ages will pass. The land will form and disappear…
…they will still fight!

Great poem! I liked the way you characterized the moon.
