I belong at sea
I can picture myself at sea.
You are at the back, steering our little sailboat through the wind.
I am on the bow, feet dangling towards the crisp, blue waves, shrieking like a child when we tip and my toes are ambushed by the water.
We are never sad on our little boat.
The days intoxicate us with sun and the misty smell of salt.
I can’t help but soak up the freshness of it all - our life, the sea, our little boat, you and me.
The evenings are your favorite time of the day.
When the night sweeps in and brings its cold I slip into my sweater while you switch on the glowing lights.
You smile as I wrap my hungry fingers around the book of poetry and devour each word.
I know you love it when my eyes flicker as I discover something extraordinary that I have to share.
You drop the anchor and now it is my favorite part. It starts with a dance.
Moonlight cascades from the starry ocean sky onto your sun-kissed skin. I breathe you in.
Our nights are long and sleepless and full of love.
Passion, the open sea, our sailboat, you and me.
