The Cage
The sun’s sweet smile blessed me again today,
But I still can’t feel its warmth anyways.
Madness opened its cold arms for an embrace,
And I accepted, because you won’t fill in the space.
It’s this space in my heart that makes me cry,
So I fill in this space with my tears, and slowly die.
Drowning in this cruel ocean, I take me last breath,
But then I see you, so I hope for the best.
You could have saved me, but no,
Of course, of course, you had to go.
Go far, far away from here,
Make sure you don’t go anywhere near.
Don’t go anywhere near this space in my heart,
This space that is slowly pulling me apart.
For, to love me would only fill you with rage,
And a beautiful bird like you should not be caged.
So you watch me drown in lukewarm sorrow,
But you don’t plan on putting flowers on my grave tomorrow.
