The Dolphin
With tears streaming down my face
A heart as broken as glass
I hold it in my hand
The last thing I have of you
My fingers run over the worn, familiar sequins
My mind floods with the memories I have been trying to forget
The necklace catches the sun’s beam
A thousand sparkles light up the ceiling, like you used to brighten up my life
I take one last look at the beautiful dolphin,
One last skim though all the memories
I place it on the ground; it’s time the pain is stopped
I smash the hammer down, one, two, three times
The tears have stopped now for me
