Hoping for success,
you take another
telling yourself this is the one
that will make the millions
worth it.
That it will be the one
that can pay off all debt,
and repair your life
allowing you to send
little Billy off to college.
With all hope on the line
you wait for the clock to strike six,
staring anxiously at the ticket
begging for your numbers
to finally come out.
Watching your dreams
roll with the wheel
as the winning ball
is pulled leaving
all bets off.
