With These Words
Happy, sad, angry;
These are all just words.
Words cannot truly ever express
The inner turmoil inside of a person.
But they do their best,
After all,
Without them we would be lost.
Without words to try to describe
The current mental state we are in,
There would be no chance at comprehension.
People would not know when someone was
Suffering, Elated, or in a state of Consuming Fear.
So these words were created.
They were set into our language by people
Who are no different than you or I.
These people feel the feelings we feel,
They understand the thoughts
The pain, the joy, the inner turmoil.
With these words,
We can try to understand each other.
With these words,
We can be better for each other.
With these words,
Well...
They can't do anything for us
Unless...
We truly give them the chance.
With these words to describe
The true inner state we are experiencing,
Use them wisely and do not lose their meaning.
If you are not "okay"
Do not say "I'm okay."
Be wise with the words we have
Been so kindly given to make
Our lives easier to live.
Be happy, be sad, be angry,
Feel the pain, the joy, the inner turmoil.
Be honest to yourself
Don't lie to those around.
With these words,
We can be honest.

Suffering, Elated, or in a state of Consuming Fear The capitalization coupled with the rhythm - especially "or in a state of Consuming Fear" Great job! Keep writing!
So here is a poem I just wrote about being honest about how we feel.
I hope this poem is "What Matters."
