The Final goodbye
She takes his hand and holds it tight,
Stays with him throughout the night.
Praying softly he won’t go,
Listens to his breath, soft and slow.
They say that all hope is past,
That there’s no way he can last.
She shouts that they are wrong,
There is no way her love is gone.
As she paces back and forth,
They murmur that time is short.
Her hope begins to fade,
As they say that fate won’t trade.
As she whispers goodbye,
She finally begins to cry.
The love they had has past,
She always knew it couldn’t last.
As his will begins to fade,
She sees her choice is made.
Clutching her dagger tight,
She can truly say goodnight.
