Maybe I need you
I am the worst feminist of my generation.
I will stare you defiantly in the eyes
and tell you that I’m fine alone but
with every beat of my heart I’m screaming
“Save me! I need you.”
So maybe I need you
like a cub needs its momma bear to
Protect me from myself and maybe
I need you
like cuts need bandaids, to cover them
up and teach them how to heal.
Maybe I need you because with each day my heart grows colder
And the cracks are spreading like ice on
a lake, more and more until it shatters.
Maybe I need you to fix me because I
know that I can’t do it myself.
