Breathe Me
It was the way you looked at her
your consuming eyes never leaving her youthful face,
the past and the familiar consoling you
but i've been there before
and it wasn't the words you refused to say
it was the moment you decided would be our last
her;
your malicious reminder of what I really was
what I had consistently been.
I saw some of me in her.
but you were there when I needed someone most
alone in a alluring new city;
and I'm here again,
my back to a stranger I once called my friend.
