i was enchanted to meet you
If I could, I would relive
this night again and again.
I would soak up the way
her hand was lightly pressed
to my cheek, eyebrows
furrowed as if my face was
her canvas and the tiny blue
boat was her Mona Lisa.
I would promise myself not to
forget her eyes flickering to
my lips and the chance I passed
up to kiss her.
Tonight meant nothing to him
but as soon as he dropped me
off I melted into the door, my
smile singing that I would never
forget this night. My mind will ever
remember his quickening pulse
under my icy fingers, the
way he thought his glances went
unnoticed as the brushstrokes slid
over his chiseled, stubbly complexion,
and my ears will ever ring
with the sweet Christmas tune
flowing from his lips in place
of the broken stereo.
