Just go for it.

They sit close on the bench
His left leg touches her right leg
And they fit perfectly together
Like the pieces of a puzzle

I can see the connection between them
With what started as a secret crush from afar
Not even his closest buddy knew about this
Because this one was different
It was not going to end badly like the past

Finally the nerves built up to email her
The first message to say “hi”
Typed and waiting to be sent
Then the anxious wait for the response
Regret and fear bundled up inside
The past heartbreak flashed through his mind
New hope held the broken pieces of his racing heart together

Her excitement when she read the message
Her heart pounding
Her fingers hovering the keys

The start of a new friendship
A new companion
There to pick up the shattered pieces of a confused life
There to encourage
Always there on a rainy day

Now they sit close on the bench
His left leg touches her right leg
She admires him with love in her eyes
He whispers with warm care in his voice
He makes her heart beat faster
She makes his smile real

Still with every passing day they grow fonder
The time apart doesn’t hurt too badly
Only because she knows he will always be there
And one day after another leads to forever
