A New Me

Standing at the door
I look to it with regret
Each time I step through it happens
I can't control my tears
I can't control the pain
I think of turning away
I consider running
I think back to when it was good
I wish it was still like that
I know it isn't
I grab the handle
I slowly turn it
I send up a short a prayer
I ask for a sign
A new begining
I step inside
I walk to the window
My gaze falls upon a sprouting tree
It makes me smile
No longer will I bear the pain
I will no longer be beat down
I am a new person
I can finally be me

I had to deal with a dad who didn't care for so long. This represents my choice to make myself better and remove myself from the situation.
